Personal | The Beach Cafe

Thursday, February 14, 2008

I've been driving down Highway 1 to Pacifica and Half Moon Bay for years. For any reason whether to think, get work done, or get away I always sought comfort in taking my drives along the coast. Once in a while I'd make a stop at the local Beach Cafe in Pacifica. Years have passed since I've been to the tiny shack. Last year was extremely busy for me, so much so that the days of leisure spent driving along the coast were so far from reach. While on my way for a cup of coffee this afternoon, I got to the cafe, to see that it was empty, lifeless, without a fresh pot of coffee or someone to bang it around for me. It was entirely abandoned. It felt really sad. It was a definite marker for me. So, I rushed back home to grab my camera in fear the place may get demolished and just like "that", I'd never get to see it again.

Update | March news and rizzariz gets a face lift...

Tuesday, February 12, 2008

...not in the literal sense. So, I've slowly but surely made some attempts to improve the look of my blog, even figuring ways to 'blog better'. You talked, I listened, and from the valuable input of friends, clients, et al, I was able to put together "all this"! On the flipside, the configuration of my previous blog combined with my puny knowledge on programming somehow led to the deletion of my previous posts *big sigh*. I had to start aaaaalllllllll over from scratch. It's okay, I left off from my last shoot, and even have a few more coming up. In the meantime, here's what's going on for March including events in the very near future:

Sandra - my first bride will be trashing her dress with me sometime this month. With the weather being horrible and all, we had to reschedule. For those of you unfamiliar with this concept, "trashing the dress" is where a bride does exactly that with a photographer to document the event. You figure you wear your dress once at the very LEAST have some photos of you splashing in the beach in it, or better yet rolling around in the sand...

Mike and Rhea - tentative as well but the shoot should be rescheduled sometime soon. Mike works for Lucas Arts, and is forced to work Saturdays the next few weeks - working on Indiana Jones (yes, I have bragging rights, somewhat). Mr. Lucas needs to chill and let Mike out of the office once in a while....seriously. *lol*

Engagement Shoot on March 9 - Baker Beach in San Francisco - I get to be second shooter for the wonderful Ms. Jennifer Hosler, a talented photographer based out of Antioch, CA. I don't exactly know the full extent of the details on this couple but I imagine as we get closer to the date I'll know more.

Even bigger news: By the magical power of my fairy godmother, I crossed paths with the lovely and uber-talented Jennifer Hosler (as mentioned earlier). I get to join Jennifer this year to shoot some pretty fabulous weddings. We've only known each other a short while, but I feel we've known each other a long time. She is fabulous in every way, is great with people and working with her is going to be a blast. Check out her fabulous, fabulous work here.

Boudoir | Donna

I reluctantly had to drag myself out of bed on Superbowl Sunday for a shoot with Donna (not that I'm into football, much less the Superbowl every year). So, how is it that I know this incredible woman? Well, Donna happened to be there through one of the most difficult transitions in my life. With her "tough love" tactics and wicked sense of humor, she, among few, helped me overcome my hardships. For that, I am very grateful for her friendship. Never, will you EVER find anyone as loyal to her friends as she is to her family! Donna is beautiful both inside and out, is a wonderful mother to her son (I can hardly believe she is a mother - just look at those ABS!), and makes one helluva friend. Seriously, she is like family to me.
